LAWAS – AUGUST 6, 2019 – Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) today launched the first of its kind “Bedudun Digital Lawas” here at Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia Lawas, JAKIM to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and to share the Government’s aspirations and initiatives on digital economy to the locals in Lawas.

 


The Right Honourable Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg officiated the launch event  accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, together with General Manager of SMA, Dr Zaidi bin Razak. 


The two-day outreach program on 5 and 6 August 2019 was organized by SMA, supported by Sarawak Pay, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), SACOFA, together with Jabatan Wanita Keluarga Sarawak (JWKS) as well as other private sector partners including PC Image and SOCOE Sdn. Bhd. The activities organized include STEM Program for 60 students from SK Kerangan, SK Batu 5, SK Pusat, Lawas, e-Preneurs talk, e-Sports PUBG Mobile Mini Tournament, The Voice of Lawas, Colouring Competition which involves participants from 4 schools; SK Punang, SK Pusat, SK Agama and SK Batu 5 Lawas and Colouring Competition for adults. The program was participated by 1,300 people.


“The Bedudun Digital Lawas program aims to enhance the competency and readiness of all communities for digital economy. Though this outreach program, we hope to bring digital economy closer to everyone in Lawas.” said Dr Zaidi bin Razak, General Manager Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA).
