BARAM – SEPTEMBER 3, 2019 – Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) today launched upgrading of smart education (E-Learning) in SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai Jau and the backhaul for internet services in Long San, Baram. The purpose of the upgrading is to improve the quality of lives through digital services and to enhance digital readiness of the community here as part of the Sarawak Government’s Digital Economy programme.

 

 

The Right Honourable Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg graced the launch event today accompanied by YB Encik Dennis Ngau, ADUN Telang Usan, together with General Manager of SMA, Dr. Zaidi bin Razak.

 

Part of the launching was a 3-day outreach program which started from 31 August 2019 until 2 September 2019, organized by SMA and supported by Sarawak Pay, PUSTAKA, CENTEX, and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN). The activities organized include STEM Bootcamp and Movie Night for the 600 school children of SMK Temenggong Datuk Lawai Jau, PANDei Program by PUSTAKA to create digital awareness, Modern Farming for the community, Working at Height Crash Course by SMA-CENTEX Safari, Arts and Performance Program by local cultural artist, Meldrick Bob from At Adau, Sarawak Pay and BSN open booths. Other than that, BSN also launched its first Ejen Bank here in Long San on 1 September 2019. The entire 3-day program was participated by 1,000 people.

 

“This is an exciting time especially for the community in Long San. With the upgraded connectivity, we have launched various services like the Sarawak Pay e-wallet, Ejen Bank BSN, Digital government services, Smart education contents and will continue to introduce many more in the near future” said Dr. Zaidi bin Razak, General Manager, Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA).
