Digital Economy Awards 2022 (DEA2022) - CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

In 2018, the Sarawak State Government launched the Sarawak Digital Strategy as the plan to develop Sarawak Digital Economy. A comprehensive action plan to bring digital technology into all sectors of the economy was structured. However, being new in the digital world and realizing the digital divide and communication gap, the Sarawak State Government emphasized on digital inclusivity, talent development, and digital infrastructure as its top priorities. 

International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) is one of the Sarawak State Government’s initiatives to make new development in Sarawak. This is to revolutionize Sarawak’s economy and industries and spur socio-economic growth and advancement. IDECS has grown to become a globally known platform for Sarawak to showcase its interest and initiatives in growing its digital economy to top international tech players. 2022 is the 5th year of Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2018-2022 and with that DEA2022 will be held in conjunction with the 5th IDECS. 

The objective of DEA2022 is to acknowledge the digital initiatives from various organizations in transforming Sarawak into a notably digitalized society. This will include the participation of the public sectors, private sectors, industries, GLCs, Universities, NGOs, and individuals.

By embracing the use of digital technologies, this award can be the motivation to the stakeholders to further execute the digital initiatives with a high impact on society. The criteria of the awards assessment will be based on the creation or championing of digital economy strategies, successful implemented projects with high impact, digital ideation, creative and innovative digital solution, relevance, digital inclusivity, citizen engagement, co-creation, feasibility, replicability, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. 

There will be 15 finalists in total with 5 categories which include Digital Technology Transformation Award, Research & Development, and Commercialization Award, Entrepreneurship and Start-Up Award, Digital Inclusivity Award, and Digital Government Award. The three best award recipients will be nominated for the Premier Digital Economy Awards (Gold, Silver, and Bronze).
